The final match of the three-match ODI series between India vs Australia is to be played on Wednesday, March 22 at the Chennai Chip. Before the match, Indian team coach Rahul Dravid talked about the preparations for the ODI World Cup and the form of Suryakumar Yadav. He said that Team India is gearing up for the big tournament. Rahul Dravid said he is happy with the team’s performance in the recent ODIs and has already made a core squad of 17-18 players for the World Cup.
India have played eight home ODIs this year and one match will be held in Chennai. Team India played three ODIs against Sri Lanka, three against New Zealand and two against Australia. Rahul Dravid was asked, ‘Keeping the World Cup in mind, did he achieve what he wanted to do in the home ODIs?’

Rahul Dravid said that it is a different playing XI combination for us now. The head coach of Team India said, ‘We are clear about the kind of team and players we want for the future. We also have a few players who are recovering from injuries. His recovery is being monitored. Now we want to see how much time they (the injured) take to recover. This is the time it takes for players to come back. We have given maximum opportunities to the players. It is good that the World Cup is in India. But even if it was not there, we would have given them equal opportunities.
The head coach of the team regretted the absence of injured Shreyas Iyer. Iyer was selected to bat at number four in the World Cup. On the other hand, Rahul Dravid sympathized with Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar Yadav could not replicate his success in ODIs in T20Is. Talking about both the stars, Dravid said, ‘It is unfortunate that Shreyas got injured. He is one of the players batting at number four. We gave him many chances in that situation. However, we have options.

On Suryakumar Yadav’s form, Rahul Dravid said, ‘We are not really worried about Surya. He got two very good balls. One thing about Surya is that he is learning the 50-over game. It is slightly different from T20. Played 10 years of IPL in T20. Surya has played a lot of T20 cricket. Played many tense T20 matches. I think he hasn’t played much ODI cricket. We have to give him some time and be patient. However, Suryakumar Yadav was replaced by Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma in the last ODI of the series.
