This is Shubman Gill’s third century in the last four innings. He became the second and first Indian player in the world to do so. Before Gill, the record of three centuries in four innings was in the name of Michael Klinger, who achieved this feat in 2014. After this inning, Shubman Gill became the highest run-scorer in IPL 2023. His current tally of runs in 16 matches is 851 runs. He will be eyeing 900 runs in the final against CSK.

In Qualifier-2, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shubman Gill’s catch on 30 could have been a different game if Tim David had caught him at mid-on. After missing Gill’s catch, it seemed that evening has come for the Mumbai team. The GT opener scored another 99 to complete his third century of the season. Gill’s century helped the defending champions post a massive 233 against Mumbai Indians.
