PSL 2023 Final: Shaheen Afridi unstoppable with bat and ball, Lahore wins PSL final by 1 run

The Sultan of Multan drowned on the shore. Mohammad Rizwan had to stop on the threshold of victory in the final of Pakistan Super League. As a result, Multan did not avenge their loss in the last final against Lahore Qalandars. Instead, Lahore retained the Pakistan Super League title, repeating history. Shaheen Afridi is out of the ground as PSL champion for 2 consecutive times.

Shaheen Afridi’s Lahore won the final of the Pakistan Super League last year, defeating Rizwan’s Multan Sultans by 42 runs. This time too two teams are face to face in the title match of PSL. This time Afridi won the title by giving Ruddhawas a win by just 1 run.

It is noteworthy that Lahore Qalandars started their campaign in this year’s Pakistan Super League by defeating Multan Sultans by 1 run. They ended the campaign with a 1-run win against Multan in the final.

In the final, Lahore Qalandars won the toss and elected to bat first. He scored 200 runs for 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Abdullah Shafiq hit a half-century. He scored 65 runs in 40 balls with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes. Shaheen Afridi remained not out after playing a stormy inning of 44 runs in just 15 balls. He hit 2 fours and 5 sixes in Mercatori’s innings.

Apart from this, Mirza Baig scored 30 runs in 18 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six. Fakhar Zaman scored 39 runs off 34 balls. He hit 4 fours and 1 six. Sam Billings 9 and Sikandar Raja were dismissed after scoring 1 run. Ehsan Hafiz could not open account. David Wise remained unbeaten after scoring 2 runs.

Usama Mir took 3 wickets for 24 runs for Multan. Anwar Ali, Isanullah and Khushdil Shah took one wicket each. Kieron Pollard did not get a wicket.

In response, the team of Multan Sultans collapsed after scoring 199 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Multan needed four runs off the last ball to win. Khushdil was run out trying to tie the match by 3 runs.

Riley Rossouw’s struggling half-century failed as the team lost. He scored 52 runs in 32 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. Rahmad Rizwan scored 34 off 23 balls. He hit 5 fours. Apart from this, Usman Khan scored 18, Kieron Pollard 19, Tim David 20, Khushdil Shah 25, Anwar Ali 1 and Abbas Afridi scored 17 runs.

Shaheen Afridi took 4 wickets despite conceding 51 runs in 4 overs. Rashid Khan took 2 wickets for 26 runs. David Wise took 1 wicket. Lahore Qalandars is the first team to win 2 consecutive PSL Champions. Before this no team had become PSL champions once and retained their title in the next season.
