Indian team’s support staff praise Gavaskar for youth success

Shubhrata Mukherjee: In the context of Indian cricket, IPL is the platform from where many young star cricketers have emerged over the years. Shubman Gill, Umran Malik, Ravi Bishnoi, Akash Madhwal, Mohammed Siraj, Benkatesh Iyer – the list is endless. This Indian Premier League can be said to be one of the supply lines of Indian cricket. And that echo was heard in the voice of veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. He also praised the support staff of the Indian senior team. Gavaskar also commented that the support staff is the reason behind the good performance of the young cricketers in the IPL.

According to Gavaskar, communication has improved a lot. A young Indian cricketer can easily mingle with former Indian cricketers and Indian coaches. One can easily exchange ideas with them. According to Gavaskar, this can be confirmed only by looking at the statistics of winning the title in IPL. Already, 12 out of 15 IPLs have been won by teams whose support staff is predominantly Indian. Indian cricketers have also led teams.

Talking about Gautam Gambhir’s influence on young cricketers, Gavaskar said that Ravi Bishnoi, Ayush Badoni and Naveen Ul Hakra improved day-by-day under Gambhir’s mentorship. In a column for Sportsstar, Gavaskar wrote, ‘You see Rinku Singh’s improvement under the tutelage of Chandrakant Pandit. Benkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Varun Chakravarthy are also back in form. How Ravi Bishnoi, Ayush Badoni and Naveen Ul Haq are improving every match under the tutelage of Gautam Gambhir. Ashish Nehra, Hardik Pandiya have also brought new stars one after the other.

The Lucknow Super Giants franchise will make their IPL debut in 2022. They reached the playoffs two years in a row. Talking about it, Gavaskar said, ‘It (of a franchise like Lucknow) is possible because of the communication between everyone. This success is due to the free exchange of ideas among all. The performance of the domestic Indian cricketers in the three teams highlights this. It must be remembered that there is always an overseas champion cricketer in the team. Young cricketers also improve by playing with him. There may be some exceptions to this. But this is the general rule.
