wall bureau: The state government will not be able to give job to ‘Zomato girl’ violinist Polami Adhikari. Sports Minister Arup Biswas made it abundantly clear on Saturday.
This Bengali woman footballer delivers food from door to door with a heavy bag on her back to support her family. Paulmi’s story was videoed and posted by a YouTuber.
As soon as Paulmi posted the video, it went viral in no time. Started liking the video and reading the comments. But what was to happen, did not happen. The state government or any organization could not arrange any job for this famous footballer of Bengal.
After the news of Polmi surfaced, Sports Minister Arup Vishwas said that he would arrange for a government job. After this, Palmi went to the new secretariat building and met the Sports Minister and submitted his resume. Then the girl returned home with hope.
Ahead of Saturday’s ISL final, Arup Biswas told the media, “We have looked into Paulmy’s application, but it seems there is no way to give him a government job. Because he played the World Cup for the homeless. This is not in reference to sports quota of state government. Still we offered C group job in casual post to Polmi. Salary in that post was 13 thousand 600 taka. But he has told that he will not work for this post .
IFA secretary Anirban Dutta also contacted Paulmi. He also arranged a job for that footballer from Bengal for eight thousand taka. But Paulmi told him, “I earn 15,000 to 20,000 taka a month by distributing food.” So you better arrange me a respectable job on that salary.
Although Palmy’s video went viral, her family or social status did not change. He asked the state government to arrange a job for his grandfather as well, but the state government could not provide that too for good reasons.
